The earlier adult years are great for trying all sorts of things, and it’s not that you’re not going to do anything new again after 40. But you’re going to try things being more sure than ever before of what you like, what you want to be open to, what you definitely don’t want to do, etc.
It’s just the best to realize that there’s someone that knows all your likes, loves, desires, annoyances, anxieties, idiosyncrasies, and greatest comforts. Someone who actually has a lot of control over how your life goes. Someone who gets to be with you for the rest of your life, and will never tap out. PS that someone is you.
I’m sure there exist very enlightened people who get to this point before 40. But for me and many of my peers, 40 is around the fulcrum point when you come to this realization. You curate your own life, and you can be VERY good at it!
