Growing up, I didn’t understand eyebrows. Everyone says how important they are to frame your face, but products and services all seemed geared towards removing eyebrow hair, and my issue is that mine were sparse and haphazard. I’d draw them in sometimes, but it never looked quite right unless I spent a good 15 minutes just staring at them in the mirror trying to be discerning about whether they were even and too dark or not dark enough… which is clearly not how I like to spend my time.
I had heard about microblading but it seemed more intense than what I wanted — then my friend turned me onto nanoblading, which is exactly the level I wanted! It’s a subtle process where eyebrow hairs are semi-permanently tattooed (yes, tattooed) on your skin among your existing eyebrow hairs. A good eyebrow artist will also shape your current brows to match and give you a shape to follow. I wanted a VERY natural arch that would just look like I woke up with these, and that’s what I got!
Nanoblading lasts less time than microblading (hence semi-permanent) — I was told 6 months to a year, and I’m currently at the 10-month mark and thinking I’ll go back to get them refreshed soon.
The pic is mine when I first got them and they were at their darkest — looking back now, I’m so impressed that they didn’t look overly dark to me even then. Hugely recommend this to anyone who bemoans having barely any eyebrow hairs naturally!
