Every head of hair is different, and this is a process very specific to me! But if you are currently doing a whole thing for your hair every single day and you’d prefer not to… let this be your invite to just maybe rethink things a bit.
For me, possessor of a head of short- to mid-length ringlet-y waves, that means washing and styling my wet hair twice a week, and using a silk bonnet and a water spritz bottle to keep the ringlets intact in between. I specifically sought out products that felt light (my ride-or-die foam is linked), because they’d be sitting on my hair for up to four days, and I didn’t want anything heavy, waxy, or oily.
I don’t need this personally, but I know people with oilier scalps swear by dry shampoo! All I know is that once I told myself that I didn’t want to think about my hair any more than I had to, but I still wanted it to look good, that was a good organizing principle to help me figure out what products to use. I end up spending 20-30 min styling it twice a week now, and less than 5 min every other day. 👩🏻🦱
