First off, this has nothing to do with the horror movie (my nerves can’t take horror, but everyone asks me about it when I say we’re doing this!).
Midsummer is a traditional celebration in Sweden where everyone goes back to your hometown for specific foods, drinks, rituals, and it’s all about being together and celebrating the start of summer (the name is confusing! It’s always around the summer solstice in mid- to late June).
We go to a hotel in the Dalarna region where they do all the traditional things for those who don’t have a Swedish family to go to — immigrants to Sweden, tourists like us, whoever! We make flower crowns, decorate the maypole, raise it in the town square, eat strawberries, and enjoy daylight that doesn’t ever really end. So excited to go back this year!
